​The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) was originally established by Congress in 1935 as the Soil Conservation Service.  The agency's creation began a federal commitment to conserving natural resources on private lands.  Since then, NRCS has become a conservation leader for natural resources on private lands.

Idaho soil and water conservation commission

​The Idaho Soil & Water Conservation Commission was established in 1939 by the Idaho Legislature to address concerns relating to soil erosion after the Dust Bowl catastrophe of the 1930's. Presently, the Commission is focused on responsibilities to local soil conservation districts by providing funding and technical assistance to address local issues and meet state mandates.

The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) is the nonprofit organization that represents America’s 3,000 conservation districts and the 17,000 men and women who serve on their governing boards. The NACD provides national leadership and a unified voice for natural resource conservation.

IDEA is a voluntary association of personnel employed by Idaho's 50 soil conservation districts. IDEA's mission is to enhance communications, promote professional improvement, and increase the effectiveness of Districts and their employees; and to foster a mutual partnership with conservation agencies, organizations and associations.
