Each of Idaho’s U.S. Senators and Representatives has a website and a newsletter. Each invites you to sign up for his monthly e-newsletter. There are many items of interest to the IASCD membership that go through Congress each month and this is a good way to keep informed about what is happening.

ISCC Interim Committee Members
The first Idaho Soil Conservation Commission Interim Committee meeting was held on July 27, 2009 at the Capitol Annex. There were 6 presentations made to the Interim Committee on July 27. The first was Brook Murdock, the administrative assistant of the Committee. Her presentation was on Soil Conservation District Law. Keith Bybee from the Legislative Services Office then made a presentation the Appropriation of the Soil Conservation Commission Budget, including the Soil Conservation District’s Budget. Pamm Juker, Chief of Staff, Idaho State Department of Agriculture was there to represent Director Celia Gould. She discussed the Department’s concerns and suggestions for streamlining the Conservation Partnership. She also talked about the recent MOU between the Commission and the Department. Soil Conservation Commission Chair Dwight Horst then made a presentation about the workings of the Commission. Steve Miller, IASCD President, rounded out the morning with a presentation on the Idaho Association of Soil Conservation Districts and the relationships that we have with the Commission and Districts.
